Foto-Friday: Tribute to a Border Collie

Just about a year ago now was the last time I saw BJ, a border collie that my family has had since my junior year of high school in 1998. The reason for this is that it was this time last year that my parents split up and due to the causes of that, I have not seen (or really spoken to) my father since. Since my parents had two border collies, my mother took one and my father took BJ.

BJ has a tremendous love for frisbees and "woolies" (stuffed animals made from wool). He also has an odd fear of people being in the kitchen (though he'll go in there if there are no people in there). He's not much for tricks to show off, but he's incredibly intelligent and is able to differentiate a variety of toys based on shape, size, and color.

I miss BJ tremendously... I not sure if seeing pictures of him helps or makes it worse. But, either way, here he is.

What a beautiful dog. Obviously, I don't understand your family situation, but I do know that BJ misses you too.

GREAT shots! What a sweet baby.

I'm so sorry you do not get to see him.

I love the way you captured him on the floor. I want to try something like that with Daisy. She's always on the kitchen tile. I'm going to attempt the same angle you did.

Wonderful photos, Fufu! A beautiful dog.

I'm so sorry you're missing your friend.

I was raised by Border Collies myself. Some of my earliest memories are of playing with our sweet Sad Sack. Great dogs!

I love Collies and had one when I was a tween. Sorry you can't see him anymore but I'm sure he remembers you too.

What cute guy he is... I can understand why you miss him so much. Terrific photos too. I would frame that one of him sitting with the countryside in the background.

Loved the pics of BJ. Don't know if it's even a possibility, but would anyone else in your family be able to set up some kind of a reunion with you and BJ, perhaps a day at the park or visiting BJ at someone else's place? That may be great for you and for BJ, as I'm sure he misses you terribly also. Hope it works out... :)

Nice pictures.

I had a Border Collie when I was growing up. She was a great dog.
